Hello,
this is Robert Carter alias ‘Robbie on the Radio’.
My
motivation for volunteering for hospital radio was simple. It was to try to give something back to the Halton
Hospital and community in response to the great treatment and care that my wife
received as a patient!
Hospital
experiences and stays are stressful, waiting times although often necessary,
can be tedious. I know that the music
and chat on the radio provides a distraction from the worry – I’ve been there!
Another
thing, hospital radio presenting is all about the opportunity to visit the patients
on the wards, chat with those waiting in the clinics and to play music they
want to hear. Every little helps and it
costs nothing for me to listen and try to reassure people.
As
well as welcome requests on the show, we have a mixture of local weather,
what’s on in the area and the regular features of the ‘Motown in your Town’, ‘The
French Connection’, ‘The Belated Post Card from the Americas’ and of course the
eclectic mix of music from then to now across the genres. Listen in to hear what it is all about.
My
experience of the music business was a stint back in the 70’s with EMI Records
working on the promotion of such legendry artists as Pink Floyd, Queen, Cliff Richard, The
Beatles and so many, many more….Happy memories. Although I play guitar, bass, drums and
trumpet alas, I'm not a master of any.
